Art Show
The Alabama Phoenix Festival Art Track is not your run-of-the-mill dragons and fairies small convention art show. Don’t get us wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with dragons or fairies, in fact, we are partial to both. However, our goal in the Alabama Phoenix Festival Art Track is to create a bridge between the same fantasy art that has been shown so successfully at con’s around the globe since the dawn of time, and the brand new blossoming young padawan that is the contemporary art world in the Birmingham community. We don’t see why these two areas of creative expression can’t join forces and create an art show so spectacular that it dominates the galaxy... sans-Empire, of course. We believe that all art should live long and prosper, so the APF Art Show and Art Auction are about embracing all forms of creative expression regardless of its relevance to sci-fi or fantasy content. Now it’s your job as the artist extraordinaire to help make the Alabama Phoenix Festival Art Track “one show to rule them all.” If you are an artist who paints fearsome dragons, send them right in. Or if you make videos about blood-thirsty vampires (except for glittery ones…we don’t want those), throw them our way. Perhaps you’re a lithographer who is fond of impressionistic landscapes. We’ll take those too. And if you are a visionary who sculpts giant cats out of chewing gum, send those right on in with the rest. The folks on the Alabama Phoenix Festival Art Track Jury will be waiting anxiously for your submissions.
Don’t forget, download and read the Art Show/Auction regulations and submission guidelines, the deadline for submissions is April 20th, there is a 10% tax on all art sold in Jefferson County, Alabama Phoenix Festival will take a 10% handling fee on all artworks sold, and we were just kidding about the glittery vampires comment.
